Tools and services for the professional online merchant

Price Comparison

Services Included with EZ Merchant Services

Price is an important consideration when adopting a new tool set like EZ Merchant Solutions. There are many ways to evaluate cost and the more you get bundled into a single price, the easier it is to judge the value of what you get for your money.

At EZ Merchant Solutions we try to keep things simple. We offer a complete set of tools to manage your e-commerce business. We bundle 3 products together into one monthly cost which enables you to effectively manage all aspects of your business. The three products are our state of the art shopping cart (EZ-cart), our complete back-end order and inventory management system (EZ-om) and our hosting services (EZ-host). We can also help you with additional tools for surveys, mass email marketing, etc.

Unlike our competition, there are rarely any additional expenses. However, some of our partners have their own licensing requirements. There is no requirement to use any particular service. You get our full product suite for one low monthly fee.

Competitive Approach

Competitive pricing comes in a variety of flavors. There are strengths and weaknesses to each depending on your needs. Hopefully this brief summary will identify some of the approaches and pitfalls of each.

Commission on sales

Many of the large providers charge a commission on gross product revenue. This is like having a silent partner who siphons off a percentage of your revenue. Most are in the range of .5 - 1.5% per month. While this may seem small, if your average profit margin is 20% then you are giving away approximately 5% of your earnings. That's a shareholder who's not giving you much in return.

Number of Inventory Items

Other providers charge you for the number of items you inventory (advertise for sale). These can be true inventory items or items that are intended for drop ship. Many drop-ship merchants advertise many more items on their site than they ever end up selling. A housewares merchant may offer every toaster imaginable but only sell 4 on a regular basis. Why should you pay to advertise your items on your site? While this can be a cost effective solution for small stores with few (less than 100) items, it does not scale with your growth.

Flat Rate

Many providers who offer a flat-rate platform are generally priced high. This is done to enable them to recover their costs for supporting their largest merchants. The smaller to mid-sized merchants end up subsidizing the larger merchants. However, there are a few inexpensive flat-rate providers out there. They usually offer open source software that costs them nothing and they provide little in support. Additionally, you are left to add "addons" provided by a wide variety of other providers, many of which are not compatibile with each other. So this is a BUYER BEWARE type of situation.

Number of Orders

We think this is the fairest overall approach. Our EZ Merchant Services series of products can be subscribed to with your order volume in mind. If you are a small merchant, you can pay for the order volume you use. If you're large, you get a great value for your dollar. For us, we simply grow as you grow. We think it is the most equitable pricing model.

So as you've seen, there are a number of things to consider when looking at price. We believe that purchasing your business management tools from one provider for one price is the best approach. I.e. just like your business, you want to provide a "one stop shopping" experience for your customers. This builds brand recognition, eases the burden of support, reduces the amount of integration you have to do between vendors and simply makes the most sense.
